Frequently Asked Questions

Nanavia is a privacy-first activity monitoring system designed for independent seniors. It uses a single motion sensor to learn daily routines and alerts family members via text & email if unusual inactivity is detected—no cameras, no wearables, and no intrusive surveillance.

Unlike pendants or bracelets, there is nothing to wear, charge, or remember. Nanavia is 'passive'—it works in the background. While it doesn't replace emergency dispatch systems, it provides a vital backup plan for seniors who refuse to wear traditional alert jewelry.

Never. We use PIR (Passive Infrared) technology, the same tech found in automatic porch lights. It detects movement 'events' but cannot see faces, record video, or listen to conversations. Your privacy and dignity are our top priorities.

The ideal location is a high-traffic area visited frequently, typically the kitchen. The sensor should be placed on a counter or shelf with a clear view of the room where daily activity naturally occurs.

We currently do not recommend Nanavia for homes with active indoor pets (dogs or cats), as their movement can trigger the sensors and interfere with the accuracy of the inactivity algorithms.

Nanavia typically needs about 15 days of consistent activity to establish a baseline. During this period, the system learns when movement usually begins in the morning and when the home is naturally quiet.

Alerts are sent via text and email to your designated 'Care Circle'—this can be family, friends, or neighbors. Each person in the circle can customize their own alert sensitivity settings and define custom alerts.

Yes, we have a small monthly service fee to cover secure data processing, text message delivery, and continuous software improvements. We believe in transparent pricing with no long-term contracts.
